This film is an ode to the power of silence, a song of devotion, a dance with dignity. A fiery contemplation on our responsibilities. It is a love poem inspired by a noble Indian woman and her rebellious spiritual life.
The inspiration and framework of this essay film comes from Vimala Thakar (1921 – 2009), an Indian mystic, philosopher and social grass-roots activist. She was a woman who was in love with the totality of life and who was very aware of the challenges awaiting us in the 21st century. She expressed a powerful urgency to enquire into previously unimagined perspectives in all areas of life based on the inner experience of stillness and wholeness.
The film will ask questions about our values, our relationship to sacredness and will explore how we can possibly change and create new perspectives that are needed in our 21. century life context. It is about our ‘being here’ and how we can approach life with a sense of reverence and respect.
But there is infinitely more to life, and each passionate being who dares to explore beyond the fragmentary and superficial into the mystery of totality helps all humanity perceive what it is to be fully human. Revolution, total revolution, implies experimenting with the impossible. And when an individual takes a step in the direction of the new, the impossible, the whole human race travels through that individual.
